Striper/crappie Report January 30, 2013
by doug
Lake Lanier striper and crappie action has been good the past few weeks. We fished yesterday boating 12 stripers mostly in the 8-12 pound range. We had one big striper that weighed 23 pounds. We caught most of the fish on downrods with live trout at 35-50 ft. depths. We trolled urigs late in the day and boated 2 stripers on the urigs. Look for the shad in the creeks and the stripers will be close by. The action should continue as water temps are holding around the 49-50 degree range.
Crappie are starting to show up also. Last week I fished a half day charter and boated over 50 crappie all on tube jigs at 20 ft. depths. I will be out tomorrow and will report back soon.
