Striper report, August 4, 2010
by doug
Fishing for stripers still remains good to excellent. Fishing slowed a bit last week around the full moon but really got going 2 day’s following the moon.Stripers are still holding at 50-70 feet deep over a 80-100 foot bottom. Live bluebacks on down rods are the best way to go. A few fish are being caught power reeling the herring and also bucktails and swimbaits. I have been having some good action in the afternoon when water release at Buford Dam begins. They have been pulling water most day’s starting around 2:55 p.m. and going till 5:00-6:00 p.m. This water release really get’s the fish going in the afternoons. For water release schedules you can call the US Army Corp recording at 770-945-1466. Be on the water and ready when water release starts. Get out soon while the action is hot. August and September are usually the best months of the year for large numbers of large stripers. Will be out on the lake tomorrow and will report back soon.
