Lake Lanier Fishing Report November 16, 2012

by doug

Went out today with Steve Huzar. Had a great day with Steve and his buddies. Caught some good stripers on live trout on the South end of the lake. We fished the trout on downrods at 35-50 ft. depths. We usually are on the North end this time of year but are still finding some good schools South. They’re a little bit harder to find on the south end. You have to burn some gas and keep looking. The birds keyed us in on the fish we caught. The loons and gulls are starting to show up which makes finding winter stripers a little easier.
One of Steve’s buddies caught one of the largest spotted bass I’ve ever caught on a charter. It weighed 6.15 on the boga scale. We also caught a good number of big spots on jigging spoons along with some huge yellow perch. Check the photos on the photo page. Going bass fishing tomorrow and will report back soon.
