Striper/Bass Report April 25, 2011
by doug
Striper action was hot last week. We didnt catch large numbers of stripers but the size is picking up. I fished a charter last Friday afternoon and boated a striper right at 25 pounds. He hit a flatlined blueback on a main lake point. The bass fishing is incredible. You can;t hardly keep the spots off your bluebacks. I had several day’s last week that we boated around 30 nice spotted bass with a few pushing 5 pounds. This time of year spots and stripers are using the same areas and are in mixed schools. Topwater is starting to pick up also. On cloudy days be sure to throw your big redfins. I caught quite a few last week casting weightless zoom super flukes. The pearl seemed to be the most productive color. The zara spook action should start soon as the spots have finished their spawn. Lot’s of the spots we caught last week looked like they have’nt spawned yet they were still full of eggs. Be sure to release these magnum spots as they will produce thousands of fry. I will be out tomorrow and will report back soon.
