Striper Report July 16, 2010
by doug
Striper fishing continues to be good to excellent. I fished a half day charter last Friday and really caught them well. They day started off a little slow as we were able to boat only 4 fish before noon. Around 12:30 the fish really turned on and we boated around 12 good fish from 12:30-1:30 p.m. This time of year you will usually have a good feed in the morning but if they don’t bite early you may need to stick it out and hang in there a little longer. I see the fish feed right in the middle of the day this time of year. The downrods with herring are producing the best. The fish are still holding at 50-80 ft. and should gradually make there way out over the channels as we get into August. The fish we have been catching are still over the deep bays off the main lake. They are calling for more extremely hot weather this coming week which will only bunch the stripers up more. Will be out this week and will report back soon.
