Striper Report July 8, 2010
by doug
Fishing on Lanier for stripers continues to be good to excellent. The heavy boat traffic from the July 4 weekend slowed the action just a little this past Monday and Tuesday but has kicked back in the last few day’s. The fish are still holding in a 40 to 70 ft. depth range. Early in the morning Ive been catching fish downrodding live bluebacks close to the bottom in 40-50 ft. of water. Later in the day the fish seem to be sinking down into the 50-60 ft.timber. Hanging a live blueback s right over the 45-50 ft timber has been producing quite well. We caught 2 fish around noon right around the 70 ft. mark. The stripers should be stacking up over the deep bays on the south end of the lake soon as the water temps get in the high 80′s. Laniers surface temp. now is more like a August temp. reading. Todays surface temp. at noon was 86 degree. Will report back soon.
