Hartwell Crappie Report January 18,2010

by doug

Took a trip to Lake Hartwell today with customer Earl Moore from Athens. We got  word that Hartwell was several degrees warmer than Lanier which it was. We saw water temps ranging from 45-48 degrees. The crappie were really turned on there as we boated around 100 nice size crappie. All our fish came on tube jugs around boat docks.  The fish were holding anywhere from 25-5 feet deep. This time of year they are usually deep early in the morning and as the day warms they will get shallower. I am heading back up Friday on another charter and will report back soon.Lanier is probably a week or two behind Hartwell. They should really turn of here shortly. We just need the lake to warm a few more degrees.
